YET another popular couple-about-town is officially off the market, palanggas.

After a trés controversial start, two hot years on the dating roller coaster and one brief but dramatic breakup, renowned young architect Chut Cuerva suddenly announced that he was tying the knot with “the woman I’ve finally lost my heart to.” She is the brilliant miss with the four Bs, Angelique Villaraza, L’Oreal Professional Products division public relations manager.

This came as a shock to many (including moi who has been monitoring this love affair since day one!), as Chut is known to be a stubborn, anti-marriage bachelor who loves to fly solo, as much as he loves all-night partying.

Their engagement party was superbly co-hosted by Tim Yap and stylish southern beauty Celine Lopez at the cool and chic Embassy Cuisine at The Fort over free-flowing champagne and Absolut Vodka. Tons of party favors from Essenses were given away, care of Joel Tantoco, natch, who was trés visible with his own love, gorgeous and super nice Lisa Rossiter.

Present in full force were the couple’s dearest pals Marco and Jackie Antonio, Shu Uemura’s dynamo gals Tina Tinio and Xeng Zulueta; Wendy Puyat-Hotung, who jetted in from Hong Kong; talented designer Hindy Tantoco of Rustan’s; international businessman Marcel Crespo; in-demand architect and interior designer Anton Mendoza; three young achievers Jenni Epperson, DJ Montana and Miguel Rosales; fab couple Astrud and Norman Crisologo and man-on-the-loose Manny del Rosario, plus a handful more.

I’m proud to admit, dahlings, that I prodded the groom-to-be to seal the deal in two years or bust!

I was told that in typical reverse-snobbery style, this super nice twosome plans to hold the wedding reception in their own backyard. Which means, palanggas, that we can expect a trés exclusive wedding party in nine months at the Cuerva’s sprawling residence in posh South Forbes.

Ahh, la amour toujou la amour, dahlings.

Unparalled cinema

The fabulous Imax experience has finally landed on our shores, palanggas. SM Prime Holdings and the brilliant Sy famille formally launched the trés impressive San Miguel-Coca-Cola Imax theater at the sprawling SM Mall of Asia last week.

A massive snowcapped manmade mountain complete with synthetic snow welcomed us at the humongous parking lot. From there we went into the fabulous lobby where we were treated to cocktails and yummy finger food with live music for extras, dahlings.

From there, we all went into the cavernous theater with 600 posh recliner seats and one of the world’s biggest 3D movie screens, an awesome eight-story high!

A spectacular laser-light show welcomed the hot namedroppable guests of honor, including SM Prime Holdings’ Ric Camaligan, Coca-Cola and San Miguel’s Bobby Huang, Canadian Ambassador Peter Sutherland, and Imax’s Jim Patterson and Don Savant.

Believe moi, palanggas, we definitely had an unparalleled cinematic experience, with the premier of prehistoric spectacular “T-Rex” followed by the fantastic award-winning film “Everest!”

With upcoming 3D Hollywood films like “Poseidon,” “Deep Blue Sea,” “Polar Express,” “Happy Feet,” and the wow “Superman Returns,” which is scheduled on June 28, all roads will be leading to the Mall of Asia for an amazing Imax experience.

Eggshibit

When moi got an invitation to the opening of the fab exhibition of the super talented artist par excellence Lina Llaguno Cianis, interestingly named “One Hundred Forty Eggs,” I just had to rush to the popular Galleria Duemila despite the horrendous traffic because of the rain.

The opening was so different. Instead of the usual ribbon, they had strings tied to several eggs. Cutting the strings were el simpatico Italian Ambassador Rubens Anna Fedele and popular Pasay Mayor Wenceslao “Pewee” Trinidad. Fashion plate Emily Relucio Lopez, former governor of Guimaras and art lover, made sure she had one of Lina C’s works for her collection, palanggas.

Also, there were actor Robin Da Roza; Bacolod Rep. Charlie Cojuangco on a rare outing; art critic Cid Reyes; well-known architect Chito Antonio; ADB social development specialist Barbara Lochmann; Johannes Leodige of Don Bosco Agro-Mechanical Technology Center; lawyer Ramon Quisumbing, plus many other art enthusiasts like them.

Naturellement, la simpatica Silvana A. Diaz, the energetic woman behind the success of Galleria Duemila, beamed with happiness from having been able to support such a talented artist.

What was so interesting was the “A Riddle—One Hundred Forty Eggs.” Check it out! You’ll definitely look at the egg in a totally different way.
