IN the spirit of Christmas, the Blog Herald is offering to finance a deserving blog, INQUIRER.net learned Monday.

"This season is a time of giving and we at the Blog Herald would like to celebrate the holidays with a small gift of our own. After the New Year, we will be giving $200 to a blog that needs some financial help as well as a link on our blogroll for the whole of 2007," Blog Herald editor Abe Olandres wrote.

Olandres said the "winning blog" should promote the idea of "helping make our world a better place."

"This can be achieved in many different ways, from increasing our awareness as a society, being a symbol of hope through example or more obvious ways- such as fundraising or research," he continued.

The blog invites people to recommend a blog or even apply via email before midnight of December 31st.

Filipino professional bloggers Olandres and J. Angelo Racoma took the helm of the Blog Herald early this month.

Professional blogger Duncan Riley founded Blog Herald, which provides news and commentary on the blogging industry. In February 2006, blog network Blog Media Inc. (now known as Problogging Inc.) bought Blog Herald.

United Kingdom-based Bloggy Network Ltd. now owns the Blog Herald.
