MORE than 10 youngsters, most of them minors, are being monitored by the barangay officials of Cansojong following the arrest of the four suspects in the killing of Fr. Jovencio Rabusa in barangay Cansojong, Talisay City.
Cansojong barangay captain Arnold de la Torre said these youngsters could replace the group of Ruselo Rabanes as notorious robbers.
De la Torre said the group of Rabanes had been responsible for the series of robberies in Cansojong especially in the dimly-lit portion of the South Coastal Road where the priest was killed.
He added he had no doubts that Rabanes and his gangs were involved in Rabusa's death.
Of the four, only Jonas Turawan is not a native of Cansojong because he is from San Francisco town on Camotes Island.
But De la Torre said there are other youngsters seen in the company of Rabanes group.
“Naa ni silay gaway-gaway, mga bageto nga ila ning kuyog-kuyog. Ato ning gimonitor. In fact duna na ta’y pangan aning mga bataa (They have tentacles, new ones who would go with them. We are monitoring them. In fact, we have the names of these kids),” De la Torre said.
De la Torre said these youngsters could be involved in illegal drug as they would usually gathered in the interior portion of the barangay.
The barangay captain is asking the parents of these youngsters to monitor the activities of their children and to discipline them.
He said the parents should make sure that their children are home by 8 p.m. If they are not home by that time, the parents should start looking for them.
“Kining mga bataa napasagdan man gud ni sa mga ginikanan, wala mamonitor (These kids have been neglected by their parents. They are not being monitored),” said De la Torre.
De la Torre also promised to strengthen the implementation of their curfew ordinance that bans minors from loitering outside their homes from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. /Correspondent Jhunnex Napallacan |
