Students of Casili Elementary School in Mandaue City need not attend classes in a congested classroom anymore after four classrooms were turned over to the school.

Felix Ng, a local businessman, in coordination with the Federation of Fil-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Manila and its local counterpart, donated a four-classroom building to the school.

Arturo Suan, school principal, said the donation amounting to P700,000 is a big help since students of the newly opened night high school also use the facility.

Lea Gracia, a grade six teacher, recalled that last year they were forced to hold classes under the trees because of lack of classrooms.

“Believing in the value of education, my brother has dared to cross business and academe and involved in this project,” Jose Ng said during the ceremony in behalf of his brother, Felix.

Alfonso Uy, president of the Manila-based federation, said “We feel education is a very strong tool to free the people from the bondage of poverty. The youth if properly educated will become good future leaders.”

Mayor Cortes thanked the Ng family for their support.

Among those present during the affair were Casili barangay captain Vidal Cabatingan, City Administrator Briccio Boholst and Assistant City Schools Division Superintendent Nimfa Bongo.
