The Cebu City government will once again revitalize the “award system” for deserving city hall employees by 2010.

City Councilor Jose Daluz III will present the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (Praise) to acting Mayor Michael Rama.

Daluz said the guidelines on Praise have been approved by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) by October but was received by the city only last December.

The Praise was stopped for a year after the CSC found out that the guidelines provided by the city were not in accordance with the CSC rules and regulations, Daluz said.

Because of time constraints, the program will resume in 2010 to give the City Council enough time to iron out and study the guidelines approved by the CSC.

The objective of Praise is to encourage the employees to perform well and to give their best in public service.

For the past years, Praise has been giving out awards like Best Employee of the Year, Gantimpala and Best Department with a corresponding prize of P10,000.

For the 2010 awarding, Praise will probably include the increase in salary to the best employee.

Meanwhile, Rama gave out uniforms to 10 South Road Properties (SRP) workers last Saturday to maintain the cleanliness of SRP.

The SRP uniform included a pair of boots, sweatshirt and a helmet.

“We are giving this to you to maintain the cleanliness here at SRP,” Rama said.

“I do not want you to go around here without wearing your uniform. I also don’t want to see these uniforms being worn by somebody else,” he added.

The SRP workers are tasked to clean the entire perimeter of Sugbu building, which was constructed last 2001 and was completed in 2004.

The three-story building serves as the city's administration office for the SRP project.
