Cebuano David G. Lim (DGL) of the powerhouse DGL Motorsports race team kicked off the new year with a bang as he won six titles, including the prestigious overall fastest time award, in the first leg of the Autocross Regional Championship Series held over the weekend at the Cebu Auto and Racing Show at the Park Mall in Mandaue City.DGL went unmatched as he timed in the fastest in the Novice Modified B, Experienced Modified B and C, and the Open B and C categories in addition to the overall fastest time crown. He also finished second in two more divisions, the Novice Modified C and the All-Wheel Drive category. “It's a good start to the year, and hopefully, we can have more before the year ends,” said DGL after the awarding ceremonies Sunday. DGL added these accolades to his already lofty resume, which includes the distinction of driving the fastest car in the country - a chop-top version of the Honda Civic EG, which clocked 9.817 seconds in a 400-meter run at last year's Mayor Tommy Osmeña 6 National Drag Racing competition. He is also looking to bump up his spectacular performance last year in the autocross series, where he won the overall championship and best time awards in Cebu, Davao and at the Clark Airbase in Pampanga. Driving a Honda CRX, DGL registered the overall fastest time of the competition by crossing the finish line with a time of 56.72 seconds, a feat he accomplished in the Open B category of the tournament. Also with the same CRX, he submitted the winning times in the Novice Modified B (1 minute and 14 tenths of a second) and Experienced Modified B (58.11). He also drove a Mitsubishi Evolution V to titles in the Experienced Modified C (58.80) and Open C (57.91) divisions. In other divisions, Philip Lim took home two titles as won the Novice Stock A and B competitions while Blake Go won a championship in the Modified Novice A and three second place and two third place trophies. Justin Neri also won the Novice Modified C and All-Euro classes. He also had the second-fastest time of the competition with a time of 57.64, which he did in the All-Euro division. Randy Paray won the All-Wheel Drive competition, beating DGL with a time of 1.00:81 while David Lim Jr. followed in his father's footsteps, winning the All-Sports Car title with a time of 1.00:33.
