CEBU CITY, Philippines – Security, order and cleanliness are among the priorities listed by Cebu City Hall for the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC), which hired a former Cebu provincial administrator to handle these concerns.

Acting Mayor Michael Rama told local media that former Capitol administrator Frank Japson will handle security and order in the CCMC in coordination with CCMC consultant Dr. Rodolfo Roman Bigornia.

Rama said that despite plans by Cebu City Mayor-on-leave Tomas Osmeña to sell the CCMC, it was best to look forward to this year's developments.

“That matter of CCMC should be given sufficient attention. Let's not look back, let's look forward,” he said.

The acting mayor said that while Bigornia has done a good job as CCMC consultant, he is not always physically present to attend to the hospital's needs.

Rama said Bigornia's expertise also differs from Japson, who served under former Cebu governor Lito Osmeña.

Japson is also a South Road Properties (SRP) consultant.

“We are looking for someone who is willing and capable of handling it,” Rama said.

He said Japson will be tasked to improve service efficiency to prevent overcrowding of patients at the CCMC.

He said this could be done by specifying the number of hours spent by doctors and hospital staff on patients.

Rama said the length of time spent by a patient's caretakers in the CCMC especially during evenings should also be regulated. /Reporter Marian Z. Codilla
