CEBU City police and Carbon market vendors mapped out security plans for the “Pasko sa Carbon” event to be held between Unit I and 2 of Carbon Market on Dec. 4.

Senior Insp. Pablo Cabildo said beat patrolmen will join 15 tanods and civilian volunteers in patrolling the Carbon market to ward off criminal elements.

Cabildo, Carbon police precinct chief, said the volunteers will include members of the task force of the Cebu Market Vendors Cooperative (Cemvedco) and the Cebu City United Vendors Association.

He said the volunteers are being briefed on how to identify and deal with criminals.
Cemvedco chairman Erwin Gok-ong outlined the activities that would be part of the annual program.

A parade of sidewalk and street vendors and stall and establishment owners in Carbon market would kick off the celebration, followed by the lighting of the twin Christmas trees and a fireworks display.

A “Miss Pasko sa Carbon” beauty contest would also be held.

Joni Chan, project director of the United Multi-Sectoral Council of Cebu City, said the businessmen in Carbon market joined hands with the vendors to ensure a safe Christmas for residents and visitors alike.
