CEBU CITY, Philippines - Two persons were arrested on suspicion of robbery in Carcar City, southern Cebu, while three others were collared for illegal gambling in Liloan town, northern Cebu, on Saturday.Arrested in Barangay (village) Guadalupe, Carcar City, were Solomon Paradiang, 19, and a 16-year-old boy, both residents of Cabadiangan, Compostela. The suspects were arrested in a checkpoint by the Guadalupe barangay tanods (village security officers). The suspects were on board a mini bus when the inspecting tanods found two cell phones, an IPOD, assorted clothes, assorted wrist watches and P2,000 cash in their possession. The suspects were turned over to the police. In a follow-up investigation, the police learned that the items belonged to couple Allan and Liezel Villarin of Barangay Guadalupe. In Tayud, Liloan, Teofilo Friyas, 60; Armando Pepito, 54; and Ramon Pasco, 50, were arrested after they were caught playing a card game locally known as “tong-its.” Charges are expected to be filed on Monday against the arrested men, the police said. /Correspondent Chris A.
