Ramie Laput claimed the interim WBO Asia-Pacific super bantamweight title after scoring a third-round technical knockout victory over Mongkolchai Singmanassak of Thailand in the “Saga in Naga” boxing card Saturday night at the Naga Sports Complex.Laput started strong and rained his hapless opponent with 1-2 combination before he pinned Singmanassak in his own corner in the third canto, where the Thai was unable to answer the Filipino pug's barrage of punches, prompting the referee to halt the fight with 1:32 remaining. Split draw In the co-main event for the interim WBO Oriental flyweight crown, Fernando Lumacad started strong against Thailand's Saensaknoi Nor Muangklang before he lost steam in the last two rounds to end the match in a split draw. Meanwhile, Marvin Sonsona continued to attract attention as another heavy handed southpaw from General Santos by scoring a second-round technical knockout win over Joel Rafols for the vacant WBO Asia-Pacific Youth flyweight title. Sonsona, who improved his record to 8-0 (win-loss with 7 KOs), unleashed several powerful combinations that saw Rafols still grimacing from the body blows after the fight was stopped. In the other supporting bouts, minimumweight Ryan Tampus won by a stunning 49 second first-round knockout over Reil Mandate; Ronald Castrodes won via spilt decision over Fabio Marfa in their eight-round superflyweight bout. Jestoni Pepito, on the other hand, beat Korean Joon Woon Choi via unanimous decision in their superbantamweight fight.
