Social workers provide stress debriefing for C130 survivors Cebu Daily News Posted date: September 04, 2008 THE Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7) and the Lapu-Lapu City Social Welfare office dispatched social workers to Mactan Benito Ebuen Airbase in Mactan immediately after the C130 Philippine Air Force (PAF) cargo plane crashed near the vicinity of Samal and Talikod islands in Davao. Stress debriefing activities were held for the wives of seven of the nine crewmen of the ill-fated C130 plane and their dependents. A psychologist from the PAF headquarters was sent from Villamor Airbase in Manila to Mactan to conduct debriefing sessions to the relatives to prepare them for whatever would be the outcome of the search operations in Davao. The Lapu-Lapu City social welfare office also promised to give financial assistance to the families. CISD or Critical Incidence Stress Debriefing, usually administered by the DSWD to tragedy victims and survivors, is a psychosocial intervention to people who experienced trauma as a result of an incident.
