DAGUPAN CITY -- Police arrested an Austrian national after he allegedly shot and killed his Filipina wife in San Fabian, Pangasinan, Thursday night, police said Friday.Chief Inspector Chito Esmenda, San Fabian police chief, said Aileen Peter, 33, died from a single bullet wound in her right temple. Her husband, Gernot Roland Peter, 49, was arrested and detained at the San Fabian police station following the shooting at past 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The incident took place at the My Love Beach Resort, which the Peter couple has been operating for the last 10 years in the coastal village of Nibaliw Narvarte. Esmenda said the Austrian national, who was drunk when policemen arrived at the resort, had denied he shot his wife. Policemen failed to find the gun used in the shooting. Esmenda said the victim might have been shot point blank by a revolver, adding that investigators failed to find an empty shell from the crime scene. He said witnesses’ accounts showed the couple had been quarrelling and had accused each other of infidelity. |
