Six years of waiting is finally over. The Air21 Express secured their first-ever trip to the finals after hammering a 99-91 come-from-behind win over the Magnolia Beverage Masters in Game Six of their PBA Fiesta Cup best-of-seven semifinal series at the Cuneta Astrodome.

The Express wrapped up the series, 4-2, to arrange a championship date with the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings.

The Air21-Ginebra race-to-four battle will begin on Wednesday.

Prior to last night's win, the Express had yet to advance to the finals since joining the league in 2002. But they had to overhaul a 15-point deficit to end the drought.

With its back against the wall, Magnolia did all the good things in the first half where it once erected a 15-point lead.

The determined Express made their move in the third quarter where they finally caught the Beverage Masters by knotting the score at 64-all.

Magnolia, however, rediscovered its rhythm and staged 14-4 run bridging the third and fourth periods to post another double digit lead, 78-68, early in the fourth.

But the Beverage Masters could only score three points after that while the Express unloaded 18 points to wrest the lead, 86-81, with 4:30 left.

Marc Pingris broke Magnolia's silence by scoring underneath but Egay Billones nailed back-to-back triples to give Air21 a 92-83 lead in the final 1:57.

The Beverage Masters had their chances of extending their season but could not convert in critical moments, allowing the Express to escape with the big win.

Arwind Santos topscored for the Express with 24 points on a 4-for-8 shooting from the three-point field. Gary David added 20 points, Raniedel de Ocampo contributed 17 for the Express. CORRESPONDENT CALVIN D. CORDOVA
