THE Gawad Kalinga (GK) and Smart Communications Inc. (Smart) recently launched the GK InfoBoard to make GK announcements more accessible to the thousands of GK volunteers all over the country.

“With the GK InfoBoard, GK partners and volunteers will be able to receive important announcements on GK-related activities. GK partners and volunteers may also send feedback to GK simply by sending a text message to an access number,” said Smart Wireless Consumer Solutions head James Bernas.

“InfoBoard is a web-based solution that Smart offers with various SMS facilities with different functions and capabilities designed to suit the needs of the different ‘communities’ like schools, non-government organizations and socio-civic organizations. What is needed is a computer with Internet access, and a personalized access code. Clients can create and upload content as needed by their ‘community members’.”

GK partners and volunteers may register for free to the GK InfoBoard by simply keying in GKREGName/Address/Age and send the information to 71745 (717GK).

To start receiving announcements from GK, one needs to subscribe to the GK InfoBoard service by typing GKPUSHON and sending it to 71745 (717GK).

The GK member will then start receiving important announcements from the GK head office.

Registration to the InfoBoard service is free, while subscription will cost only P1. A subscriber will be charged P1 for every text broadcast sent by GK.

To send feedback, GKfeedbackmessage and send to 70045 (700GK). For example, type GK feedback I’m proud to be a GK Bayani, then send to 70045 (700GK). Subscribers will be charged P1 per message sent.

“The GK movement is really fueled by thousands of volunteers going to the different sites. Technology like the InfoBoard will transform the landscape of volunteer management. We can now send real time information on GK activities to the volunteers in an instant. We can also look forward to more volunteer participation because of easy access to information,” said GK Executive Director Luis Oquiñena.
