The People’s Globalization Awareness Initiative Network (PGAIN), Inc. and the University of Cebu (UC) Political Science Society will conduct a panel discussion on global food crisis dubbed “Gigutom Ka?”The event will be held on June 28, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the audio-visual room of UC Main campus. The panelists are Ricardo Oblena, executive director of the Department of Agriculture in Central Visayas; lawyer Danilo Bonabon, executive director of the National Food Authority in Central Visayas; Estrella Flores-Catarata, Central Visayas Farmers Development Center, Inc. executive director; and Adrian Boyett Agbon, UC Economics Professor. Each of them will explain the following topics: food situation (supply and price) in the Philippines and Central Visayas; food production in the country and the region; highlights on the world food situation; global, national and regional policies which affect food situation and production; and alternatives and recommendations to address the food crisis. An open forum will follow. The public is invited to participate in this informative undertaking. Registration is free.
