MANILA, Philippines – A taxi driver lost his cab and his day's earnings to two robbers Thursday night in Pasay City, police said.
Senior Police Officer 1 Joel Landicho of the Pasay City Station Intelligence and Investigation Division said the robbery was reported by Fernando Pitarde, 45, of 20 Guerilla Road, Barangay (village) Holy Spirit, Veterans’ Village in Quezon City.
Pitarde told police that at around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, he was driving southbound on Edsa at the corner of Evangelista Street, Makati City, when a male about 20 years old flagged down his taxi – a Toyota City Star Cruiser with license plate TWV-866 – and sat in the backseat.
The man, sporting a buzz haircut and wearing a red jacket and short pants, asked Pitarde to go to Williams Street in Pasay City.
He ordered Pitarde to stop midway on Williams Street, where another man suddenly appeared and sat in the front passenger seat.
The second man pulled out a .38 caliber revolver and declared a robbery. He ordered Pitarde to get out of the taxi after the first man took Pitarde's money worth P2,000.
The first man then took over the steering wheel and drove away.
