REDWOOD CITY, CA, August 17, 2008 – Star Cinema and ABS-CBN International’s Starry Starry Store continues to bring top quality movies to the U.S. especially on the occasion of the former’s 15th anniversary. Following the record-breaking box-office success of A Very Special Love is the much awaited, historic team-up of two of the Philippines’ hottest young stars: KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez in For the First Time, set to premiere in Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA on September 6 and in Fox Theatre in Redwood City on September 7.
True to its name, For the First Time has many firsts: it is KC’s first feature film, the first team-up of KC and Richard, their first film with Star Cinema, KC’s first on-screen kiss, and the first Filipino film to be shot in Greece. For the First Time also kicks off the first of two KC-Richard film projects that resulted from the first-ever agreement between the Philippines’ staunchest television network rivals: ABS-CBN and GMA-7. Both sides agreed that everything is possible if done in good faith. They also acknowledged that the combination of their hottest young artists could only mean a winner at the box office.
For the First Time follows the lives of Seth (Gutierrez), a rich, impulsive playboy who runs away from serious relationships, and Pia (Concepcion), a prude, ambitious girl who feels responsible for the tragedy she once encountered that left her with a scar which constantly reminds her about the unfortunate experience. Fate leads them to meet in Santorini, where their differences don’t stop them from spending one unforgettable summer together. That is, until Seth runs away again, scared of the very unusual feeling that is happening within him.
When Seth returns to Manila, he tries again to cross paths with Pia to regain her affection. But as they struggle with the consequences of their past, and now their families’ growing discomfort with each other as conflicts in the businesses of their parents drive a wall between them, can their love for each other prevail? Can womanizer Seth become a one-woman man? Can Pia finally let go of her past and have the confidence to choose the life she’s been dreaming to have?
