ZAMBOANGA CITY — Four suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits were killed in an encounter with civilian volunteers and government forces in Hadji Muhamad Ajul town in Basilan at dawn on Tuesday.
Brig. Gen. Eugenio Clemen, chief of the First Marine Brigade, said a civilian volunteer was wounded in the 20-minute clash in the village of Tuburan.
Clemen said three of the four slain bandits were identified as Juan Kattang, Quezon Agay and Ridwan Musa.
After the encounter, government troops recovered an M16 Armalite rifle, an M203 and a rocket propelled grenade and a Garand. Julie S. Alipala, Inquirer Mindanao
