MANILA, Philippines—Lack of funds is delaying the repatriation of the remains of a 50-year-old Filipino domestic helper who died in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, more than two months ago.
An alliance of overseas Filipino workers group, Migrante-Al Khobar, on Wednesday called on the Philippine Overseas Labor Office and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration to help Renato de Guzman bring back the remains of his sister Concepcion Baginat to Zamboanga City.
Migrante-Al Khobar chair Rodelio de Leon, who is helping De Guzman, said the remains of the domestic are still at the morgue of the King Faisal Hospital in Dammam. Baginat died of a heart attack on Aug. 27.
The repatriation of the remains and the belongings would cost around 8,000 Saudi riyals (almost P100,000), according to De Leon.
