10 possible Disney/Marvel mash-ups

September 12, 2009

FANS HAVE been buzzing online about potential crossovers between the universes of Disney and Marvel. Here are our 10 favorite mash-up ideas:

A Spider-Man toy in ‘Toy Story 3’
Considering how this movie’s already coming out next year, it might be a bit too late for this. But it’d be awesome to see a Spider-Man action figure, or any Marvel action figure, make a cameo in Toy Story 3.

Dr. Strange tutoring the Wizards of Waverly Place
Now that he’s no longer Sorcerer Supreme, perhaps the good doctor can stop by WizTech to give these aspiring spell-slingers a lesson or two.

Buzz Lightyear and Stitch join the Guardians of the Galaxy
Marvel’s been building up its space adventures for the past few years, what with two Annihilation Wars and a War of Kings. Stitch’s cornucopia of powers and Buzz’s Star Command know-how might make great additions to the Guardians, in their mission to close a series of space rifts that threaten to destroy the universe.

The Incredibles meet the Fantastic Four
Both are super-powered families devoted to fighting crime. Elastigirl can swap housekeeping tips with Invisible Woman, Mr. Incredible is a great contrast for the more brainy Mr. Fantastic, and Dash and Violet Parr can hang out with the Human Torch and the Thing.

Iron Man invents Wall-E
So, Tony Stark talking to his robots in the first Iron Man film made for great humor? Wait until he invents Wall-E to clean up after him.

Simba joins the Pet Avengers
Marvel’s tongue-in-cheek mini-series about the animal sidekicks of the Marvel Universe teaming up to face the cosmic villain Thanos was great fun. Adding the Lion King to the roster would give them a born leader, and would create nice friction with the sabertooth tiger Zabu (sidekick to Ka-Zar).

Howard the Duck meets Donald Duck
Ironically enough, Marvel had to make a ton of changes to Howard, giving him pants and adding the word “the” to his name, after Disney nearly sued it over claims that Howard was too similar to Donald. Having the two meet face-to-face would certainly get people quacking.

The Jonas Brothers as the Summers Brothers
For the longest time, the mutants Cyclops (Scott) and Havok (Alex) of the X-Men thought they were all each other had in the world. But that was before the return of Gabriel, code-named Vulcan, who went on an insane revenge trip, eventually becoming Emperor of the alien Shi’ar. Now, stick guitars in their hands and make them sing, and you have a smash hit.

Hilary Duff as Dazzler
Dazzler is the disco-fueled singer/X-Man who’s now making a comeback as a pop singer (think: Kylie Minogue). Most people would associate such a role with current sensation Miley Cyrus. But Duff, who’s almost been forgotten amidst the Hannah Montana hype, might have the proper motivation to play someone who’s trying to make it big again.

Runaways run to Camp Rock
On the lam again, Marvel’s rag-tag team of teenage misfits come across “Camp Rock,” where they pretend to be attendees in order to blend in. Hijinks and music ensue.
