LUCENA CITY, Philippines -- A radio broadcaster here was attacked by a gunman inside his home in nearby Sariaya town late Sunday afternoon but survived with only minor injuries, police said.
Pablo Casaņada, 51, who works for dzLT AM, was having drinks with friends when the suspect, identified as, Arturo Remo barged in at around 5:45 p.m. and shot him, said Superintendent Danilo Morzo, Sariaya police chief.
Casaņada suffered superficial wounds in his face and chest caused by shrapnel and was rushed to a hospital in this city, Morzo said.
The suspect, who was eventually beaten up by Casaņada's companions, is now in a Sariaya hospital, Morzo said.
Casaņada claimed he did not know the suspect and was not aware of any possible motive for the shooting, the police official said.
Morzo said that based on their initial investigation, the attack was "not work-related" either. However, the police official said, "We have information that it is a case of love triangle."
Casaņada, who is known on radio by his handle "Bill Tesalona," is popular for his scathing commentaries against abuses and corruption by local and national government officials.
