Kapuso network treats Cebu fans Bayani San Diego Jr. Philippine Daily Inquirer

CEBU CITY, Philippines – Television network GMA-7 expressed gratitude to this island-province with a grand fans’ day held at the SM City Trade Hall on Saturday.
Top executives, led by Felipe L. Gozon (chair, president and chief executive officer) and Felipe S. Yalong (senior vice president, corporate services group), and network personalities treated Cebuanos with a day of singing, dancing, games and raffle surprises.
The Kapuso channel released 5,000 tickets and the hall was packed with fans eager to catch a glimpse of stars like Dingdong Dantes, Dennis Trillo, Jennylyn Mercado, Nadine Samonte, Yasmien Kurdi, Jennica Garcia and Mark Herras, along with comedians Cookie and Belli Flori.
German Moreno, or Kuya Germs to fans, co-hosted the day-long event, but he flew back to Manila that same afternoon, for a taping of his late-night show “Master Showman: Walang Tulugan.”
There were also different booths in the hall that offered games, free haircut and a photo session with stars like the “Adik Sa ’Yo” tandem Trillo and Garcia and the “Suspetsa” girls Mercado, Kurdi and Samonte.
The networks’ anchors and reporters like Mike Enriquez, Jessica Soho, Vicky Morales, Arnold Clavio, Pia Arcangel, Susan Enriquez, Ivan Mayrina and Mel Tiangco also graced the occasion.
Tiangco explained: “Our Kapusong Cebuanos are important to us.”
Tiangco, as executive vice-president of GMA Kapuso Foundation, arrived in Cebu a day earlier, to spearhead the distribution of school supplies to 10 campuses in the province.
Chair Gozon also used the occasion to announce the network’s latest promotional campaign for Cebu.
Dubbed “Kapusong Cebuano Big Time Milyonaryo,” the promo offers more than P2 million worth of cash prizes.
“In the grand draw, there will be 20 winners of P10,000 each and one winner of P1 million, tax-free,” Gozon said. “It’s our way of expressing gratitude to our loyal viewers in Cebu.”
The campaign will run from July 13 to Sept. 11, 2009.
The most unusual treat came much later in the day, though.
It is not uncommon for singing champs like Jonalyn Viray, Aicelle Santos, Maricris Garcia, Gian Magdangal, Harry Santos, Bryan Termulo and Jan Nieto to belt out hits.
But the usually serious “Saksi” news anchor Clavio surprised the crowd with his rendition of “High” by the rock band The Speaks.
