South San Francisco, Calif., February 5, 2009 – Capping off a significant year of growth in sales, LBC Mundial, Inc. was recognized by a Philippine government agency for its significant contributions to the country’s economy, particularly to its revenue collection.
The Bureau of Customs (BoC) recognized LBC Mundial, Inc. as the top consolidator of sea cargo or “balikbayan” box shipments to the Philippines.
During awarding ceremonies at the Manila International Container Port (MICP) Complex in Manila’s North Harbor, BoC Commissioner Napoleon Morales gave the plaque of recognition to LBC’s representative Mr. Roque Gonzalez last December 15.
The BoC pointed out that LBC’s sea cargo business has significantly contributed to the increase of the port’s revenues and the improvement of its collection performance.
Joining Commissioner Morales at the ceremonies were other BoC officials including Atty. Adelina S.E. Molina, district collector for the MICP. The ceremonies were held in celebration of MICP’s 30th founding anniversary.
Earlier in 2008, the BoC started a five-year strategic plan that aims to make the once-beleaguered agency one of the world’s best customs agency, “an agency that will make every Filipino proud”, said Commissioner Morales.
Along with the implementation of a new automation system, the bureau also implemented a more streamlined clearing and collection system as well as stronger enforcement of custom laws.
With LBC, the BoC also recognized two other U.S.-based balikbayan box consolidators – Forex Cargo, Inc. and Atlas Brokerage & Express Padala.
