Huge traffic jam

TRAFFIC ground to a halt for almost an hour on the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) yesterday after a truck carrying cans of paint tipped over. Southbound motorists were caught in an eight-kilometer-long traffic jam from Sucat in Parañaque City to Villamor Airbase in Pasay City when the truck spilled its cargo at around 6 a.m. on the expressway. Fortunately, no injuries or deaths were reported. Muntinlupa City firemen and Skyway maintenance personnel towed away the truck and cleared the expressway of the spilled chemicals at around 7:40 a.m. The truck driven by Marlon Tapyador, 30, swerved to the right after one of its rear tires blew out. The Highway Patrol Group placed Tapyador under custody pending an investigation into the accident. Paulo Tomacder
