Universal Motors, PNB link up to attract OFWs Inquirer

AUTOMOTIVE firm Universal Motors Corp. has teamed up with Philippine National Bank (PNB) in a marketing campaign called “Ur Van Ur Business,” which offers the use of vans for small enterprises, such as school bus and shuttle services.
The linkup with PNB targets overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families. Called “Ipadala Mo, Negosyo,” it enables OFWs to transact directly with dealers through PNB offices in other countries.
“We have received a lot of inquiries from OFWs by e-mail since we launched Ur Van [last March] and this partnership with PNB is our means to cater to them,” Universal Motors senior vice president Elizabeth Lee said.
“We understand that OFWs usually manage their finances through relatives based in the Philippines and sometimes the money is not spent as intended,” Lee said. “Transacting with Ur Van dealers directly through PNB eliminates that risk.”
She said Universal Motors was working on similar partnerships with other Philippine banks that operate abroad.
She added that the company was preparing for a program that would give buyers specific training courses related to entrepreneurship.
Universal Motors distributes the 2.7-liter Urvan, which is available in three variants that can seat 12, 15 or 18 persons. With INQ7.net
