Flawlessly successful product launch

November 12, 2007

MANILA, Philippines―It was one of those really enjoyable afternoons filled with “beauty and romance.” Pond’s, the fabulous brand for facial care all over the world, unveiled its latest, groundbreaking product for flawless and beautiful-looking skin.

The ballroom of the Peninsula Hotel Manila was filled with tons of gorgeous tulips and roses for the launch of Pond’s Flawless White Visibly Lightening Day Cream, palanggas.

We had the honor of sitting with the absolutely charming Michael Cheney, Pond’s Institute’s mega global director for skincare. He spoke of this breakthrough product and the key ingredient behind Pond’s Flawless White Day Cream, the VAO-B3.

He said, “VAO-B3 is the Pond’s Institute’s patented complex of Vitamin E, Allantoin, Optics and Niacinamide that works hard on dark blemishes and gets straight to work, reducing the visible appearance of dark spots. The result is flawless and healthy-looking skin.”

The gorgeous Mutya Laxa of Unilever marketing went onstage and told us, “With the Pond’s Flawless White Day Cream, you can get visibly lighter skin and reduce blemishes and dark spots in just seven days.”

Pond’s also has loads of complementary products, palanggas, ranging from Re-Brightening Night Treatment to Light Infusing Under-Eye Cream and Perfect Finish 2-Way.

Host of this happening was tres charmant handsome hunk Derek Ramsey, no less. He had everyone’s complete attention as he explained the romance one can find from being a Pond’s gal.

We also had the opportunity to try for ourselves many of Pond’s revolutionary products, dahlings.

New magazine

Hey, palanggas, it’s no secret that I love to travel. Although I’ve been to almost every country in the world, there are still loads of destinations that I have yet to visit.

So, dahlings, if you are like moi, I have one good advice for you: Get the latest issue of the newest hot magazine in town, the must-have TraveLife.

The brightest stars during the recent launch of the magazine were definitely the publisher, Tokyo-based Christine Cunanan, and the editor in chief, my palangga Liza Ilarde, who has been in the publishing business for over 15 years.

This bimonthly mag is full of fantastic travel articles and eye-catching photos by the likes of First Daughter Luli Arroyo, award-winning writer Butch Dalisay and young musician Alessandra Tinio.

The TraveLife rah! rah! team launched the new magazine so stylishly. Over 700 of Cosmo Manille’s namedroppables and A-listers attended the exclusive happening held at a trés private home in posh Forbes Park.
It’s easier to mention who were not there, but my eagle eye spotted Luli Arroyo who left before Speaker José de Venecia showed up. Oops!

My buddy Johnny Litton hosted the program. There was a raffle of 30 awesome prizes, the main ones being a fantastic trip to Los Angeles courtesy of Eva Air and a trip to Shanghai courtesy of Cebu Pacific.
Unfortunately it wasn’t my night. After all, you win some, you lose some, n’est-ce pas (as in di bala)?

But everyone of Cosmo Manille’s hottest namedroppables enjoyed the nonstop flow of booze and wines, the yummy cocktail food, and entertainment by the fantastic Cinco Angelos singers, palanggas.

Sold-out exhibit

He was once a trés successful full-time product designer. Now, palanggas, he has become a super talented and creative sculptor.

I’m talking about the trés nice Daniel A. dela Cruz, who just had a successful one-man show at Artist Space in Ayala Museum, Makati, dahlings.

The exhibit, “Kandungan: A Tribute to Women in Our Lives,” featured 24 awesome metal sculptures in brass, copper and lead. As the title indicates, the collection was all about women, depicted in twos and threes and merged with striking objects like rocking chairs, benches and water vessels.

“I was always designing what the client needed. Now I want to express myself by creating works that appeal to me,” he explained when moi asked why he turned his back on a successful career as product designer to take up sculpture seriously.

As early as 6 p.m., the Ayala Museum was packed with personalities that, like moi, came fashionably on time, dahlings. Doing the ribbon-snipping were Sen. Loren Legarda, National Artist Arturo Luz and foremost architect Lor Calma, along with the artist and his super nice wife Monica Guevarra.

Moi easily noticed the pride in his popular in-laws, fabulous couple Boy and fashion plate Monette Guevarra, and parents, Eduardo and Letty dela Cruz.

The powerhouse turnout included trés low-profile young taipan Harley Sy, who checked out the art works; former Senate president Frank Drilon, Old Asia’s mega businessman Toto Mapa and his wife Pachot M, plus tons of others like them.

Next to the artwork, top eye-catcher was Gary Valenciano’s good-looking son Gabriel who, in case you didn’t know, palanggas, is the “very special friend” of Boy and Monette’s pretty, pretty younger daughter Nikki.

Clothes for a cause

The Catholic Women’s Club’s last fundraising activity for the year is “Clothes for a Cause.” It will be held Nov. 16-18,
10 a.m.-8 p.m., at Glorietta, Ayala Center, in cooperation with Ayala Land Inc., through the generosity of Bea Zobel, CWC member, palanggas.

This event has been held every year since November 1996 at the Center Court of Glorietta.

CWC was able to construct from the proceeds of the event and its other fundraising activities three pavilions for profoundly disturbed children of Elsie Gaches Village, dahlings.
